Church

The church of Belfiore was built in 1947 and is an authentic and precious monument of art and faith. In modern Romanesque-basilica style, it was designed by architect Domenico Rupolo.

The façade of the church is supported by 4 pillars that represent the 4 Evangelists. The entrance occurs through a portal, preceded by a porch. As soon as you enter the temple, the large "hall" supported by 12 columns and the majestic ciborium, which dominates the presbyterium, impress you. The columns divide the interior into three naves and symbolize the twelve Apostles: on each capital there are symbols that recall the task or martyrdom of an Apostle.

The ciborium overlooks the altar and serves to honor and protect the main altar. In the center of the presbyterial area is a second altar reserved for sacred celebrations.

Light enters the church through the stained glass windows distributed over the façade and the perimeter walls; the glass and the color filter the light into three fundamental densities: moderate in the side naves, bright in the central nave, and radiant on the ciborium.

In the apse of the church is currently located a splendid painting by Paolo Farinati, one of the greatest Veronese painters of the 1500s, depicting the “Madonna of Belfiore”: a sweet face of Mary, leaning over her Child, together with St. Paul and St. John the Baptist.
