The show opens in a delivery room in Rome, where a woman is having contractions and is about to give birth. Accompanying her is a man; not her husband, nor her partner, nor her brother, but a very special friend to whom she has hidden the pregnancy until the moment of labor. The two had met years earlier because of their unusual names (Martina Massimo for her and Massimo Martina for him) and had cultivated a strong friendship. However, that seemingly simple relationship hides deeper feelings, feelings that were never revealed for fear of changing the dynamics, feelings that risk exploding right in that hospital room, under the eyes of the ironic and disillusioned obstetrician Francesco.
For author Gabriele Pignotta, who also plays the role of the obstetrician Francesco, this comedy represents a turning point in his career. It humorously and humanely explores the spirit, made of impulses, fears, hopes, and desires, of a generation searching for balance in a chaotic and uncertain world.
