We produce saffron, honey, eggs from old breeds of hens, vegetables and forgotten legumes, fully respecting biodiversity, the soil, and the environment that surrounds us.
I am Matteo Caloi, I am 20 years old and I am the owner of the Consapevole Tretener Agricultural Company.
After graduating from the Agricultural Technical Institute Stefani Bentegodi in Buttapietra, I am currently attending a 2-year post-diploma course specializing in organic and biodynamic agriculture, which consists of theoretical lessons and internships on farms.
During my agricultural studies, I received a scholarship for the Bionet project, which focuses on the study, recovery, and maintenance of old varieties of apples, pears, and wheat.
My farm is located in Sant’Andrea di Badia Calavena, at the foot of the beautiful Lessinia Regional Park, less than an hour from Verona.
It consists of several farmhouses with a barn and a porch that will be renovated this new year and transformed into a laboratory for honey and saffron and a sales point. This is just one of my projects for the new year that will also lead to the expansion of the chicken coops with the creation of an Outdoor Organic Farm of about 2000 m2.
I like to define myself as a Consapevole Agricultural Company, with a focus on natural rhythms, circular agriculture, and the preservation of biodiversity while fully respecting animals and nature.
I follow the agronomic practices of organic and biodynamic agriculture and in line with this philosophy, I cultivate saffron, legumes, vegetables, and ancient grains, produce honey, and raise hens of ancient breeds.
I feel honored to be able to protect all this biodiversity. The idea of recovering and reseeding ancient varieties of grains that my great-grandparents cultivated, or recovering ancient breeds of poultry close to extinction, becomes here a concrete, unique, and precious project to carry forward with passion.
Even today, I am convinced that I have a treasure in my hands and I feel the duty to protect it carefully and disseminate it wisely to ensure its preservation, never allowing it to be lost.
