The Museum of Risorgimento (Italian Unification) in Villafranca di Verona, housed in Palazzo Bottagisio, presents the history of Italy’s independence through artifacts, documents, and artworks in a restored noble residence. Founded in 1959 to commemorate the Armistice of Villafranca, the museum’s collection includes weapons, prints, and memorabilia from both sides of the independence wars, as well as personal items from local participants.
After renovations and a complete reorganization in 2022/2023, the exhibition now follows a chronological layout. The ground floor also features a collection of early twentieth-century Veronese paintings from Dr. Giovanni Martinelli’s bequest.
