The chapel of the Madonna at the Formiga Bridge, on the left side of the Piganzo, was commissioned by Abbot Bongiovanni in 1687 on the 20th anniversary of his appointment as pastor of Isola. In past centuries, it was the object of much veneration. On the entrance door, beneath the coat of arms of the noble Bongiovanni, flanked by the abbatial insignia, is the inscription that commemorates its erection.
Inside, the walls feature a cycle of paintings that have now been erased by humidity, and above the altar is frescoed an image of the Madonna with Child. In the floor, there is a long tomb inscription.
Starting from the year 2023, the chapel, which is municipally owned, has undergone various interventions; the first involved the steps leading to the course of the Piganzo. Between the end of 2025 and April 2026, work was done on the wall structures, the internal floor, and the roofing was redone; a small bell was also added.
