The Arcole castle was probably built in the early decades of the 10th century, following the first devastating Hungarian raids, in a raised and protected area to the west of the Zerpana valley.
The defensive works of the primitive castle consisted of a moat and an enclaving that was meant to protect an octagonal area, whose axes were the current Rosario and via Abazzea. Inside, there should have been the inhabited center, with the ancient parish church of San Giorgio.
It is very likely that the castle was demolished by the Scaligeri between 1327 and 1375.
