Pianura dei Dogi

The Archaeological Museum of Isola della Scala, located in the former chapel of Saint Anthony, within the church of Santa Maria Maddalena, displays archaeological finds discovered along the banks of the Tione and Tartaro rivers and in the territory of Bassa Veronese. The showcases in the only room of the museum create a continuous chronological path, with artifacts ranging from the Copper Age to the Lombard era.

The museum collection was inaugurated in 1978, when the then Superintendency for Antiquities of Veneto authorized the conservation on site and the exhibition of materials found on the surface in the territory of Isola della Scala and the surrounding towns. In the following years, thanks to the constant commitment of the Isolana Archaeological Association, the Museum was enriched with new artifacts, to the point that, in 1999, it became necessary to move to the current museum location, at the ancient Church of the Friars, dedicated to Santa Maria Maddalena.
