Excavation at the National Archaeological Museum of Verona

Have you ever imagined what it feels like to bring an ancient artifact to light? At the National Archaeological Museum of Verona, you can truly experience it.

This is an experience that combines a guided tour of the collections with a hands-on excavation session inside the museum. With your hands in the soil and the tools used by archaeologists, you’ll step into the shoes of an archaeologist: the finds you may uncover are real — and each one has a story to tell.
The guided tour and the excavation intertwine to reveal the long journey every object takes before reaching a museum.

How is an archaeological site identified? How is an artifact documented, recovered, and preserved? What lies behind the display cases you see in the galleries?
Designed for curious minds of all ages, it is a perfect opportunity for families — an afternoon where adults and children explore the past together, with both hands and minds.
