On the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the death of Titian Vecellio (1576), the Fondazione Chiese Vive offers special guided tours of the Cathedral.
The thematic itinerary includes the famous Assumption by Titian - the only work by the Master present in Verona - and touches upon the important commissions of the 16th century, particularly related to Gian Matteo Giberti, the enlightened bishop of the Veronese Church. Among these is the pictorial cycle dedicated to the Virgin and her Assumption painted by Francesco Torbido on preparatory cartoons by Giulio Romano: a triumph of colors and figures that inhabit the main chapel, beyond the choir designed by the great architect Michele Sanmicheli.
The guided tour, with mandatory reservation, takes place in Italian.
