On the occasion of the bicentennial of the birth of Carlo Lorenzini Collodi (1826-2026), the Fondazione Centro Studi Campostrini presents a rigorous artistic and conceptual research by Andrea Jori, a maestro and artist from Mantova.
The exhibition celebrates an authentic and profound artistic research of the myth of Pinocchio, capable of shaping the legendary tale into matter, signs, and transmedia languages.
In the works of the artist from Mantova, the myth of Pinocchio transcends the boundaries of simple storytelling to become a grand allegory of the human condition: it ceases to be merely a piece of wood longing to become a child and elevates itself to a universal archetype. The puppet thus becomes a faithful mirror of the tensions and identity processes of contemporary man, creating an ideal bridge from archaic myths to our digital age.
The Bicentennial exhibition offers a broad exhibition path retracing over fifty years of career — from the first stunning encounters with Collodi's work in the 1970s to the most recent multimedia installations, among oil paintings, acrylics, graphic works, and polymaterial sculptures, which analyze the story of Pinocchio not only as a classic of literature but as a universal archetype of human metamorphosis, from archaic myth to the challenges of the digital era.
