There are places we pass by every day without truly getting to know them: small country churches, ancient parish churches, and sanctuaries nestled among vineyards and olive groves hold stories of communities, traditions, art, and spirituality that have transcended the centuries.
This experience has been created with the goal of opening the small rural churches of Eastern Verona and enhancing this heritage through an experience of slow, sustainable tourism that is deeply connected to the territory. The bicycle becomes the ideal means to connect places, people, and stories, allowing us to traverse the landscape at the right pace and observe details that often escape those traveling by car.
After welcoming participants at the meeting point, we will set off by bicycle along quiet secondary roads among vineyards, olive groves, and cultivated fields.
The first stop will be a visit to the church of San Giorgio in Soave; afterward, we will head towards the Church of San Pietro in Colle, one of the most significant examples of Romanesque architecture in the Veronese territory. Participants will have access to the interiors accompanied by a dedicated guide.
The route will then continue to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Pieve, a place of worship of great importance for the religious history of the valley. Here too, a guided tour will be provided to delve into the origins of the sanctuary, its evolution over the centuries, and its connection with local communities. The experience will finally include a visit to the Church of San Colombano and a break for refreshments at a scenic viewpoint along the route.
This is not just a simple cycling excursion, but a journey through the cultural heritage of Eastern Verona: an opportunity to access places that are normally less visited, meet those who preserve their memory, and experience a unique combination of movement, culture, landscape, and conviviality.
